Preparation
Are you someone that can’t stay cool throughout the night no matter what the temperature is outside? It may be time to turn to cooling sheets. Sustainable, airy fabrics like silk, eucalyptus, bamboo, organic cotton, and other plant-based materials absorb moisture and fend off those flashes of heat. “High quality fibers act as natural temperature regulators, making sheets cool and breathable in the summer, and warm and insulating in the winter,” says Penny Murphy, the president of Pioneer Linens.
While some fabrics are naturally cooling, certain designs and styles of weaving also help regulate body temperature if you’re a hot sleeper. “Percale is a type of textile weave that affects the way fabric feels,” says Erum N. Ilyas, MD, MBE, FAAD, a dermatologist and functional textile expert. Usually 100 percent cotton, percale’s construction utilizes a criss-cross weave, making the fabric lightweight and very breathable. These kinds of sheets are ideal for people that live in warm climates—or if you’re simply someone that runs hot.
To help you find a great set of cooling bedding, we’re sharing sheets that are breathable, lightweight, and made from materials that will keep you comfortable all night long.
