6 oz fresh green beans, trimmed

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 egg, beaten

1 cup milk

3 cups breadcrumbs

1½ tsp sea salt, divided

¼ tsp onion powder

¼ tsp ground black pepper

⅛ tsp garlic powder

5 cups vegetable oil, for frying

5 cups water, for boiling

To Serve:

2 tbsp mayonnaise,

2 tbsp ketchup

Bring a soup pot of water with 1 teaspoon of salt to a rolling boil.

While waiting, prepare another bowl of cold water with ice.

Blanch the beans in the boiling water, then plunge in iced water to halt its cooking. Drain and set aside.

Prepare a deep skillet with oil. Heat up until ready for frying.

While waiting, prepare your breading mix. Place the flour in a small bowl and add remaining salt, onion powder, pepper, and garlic powder.

In a second small bowl, whisk the egg together with the milk until well-combined.

In a third bowl, add the breadcrumbs.

Dredge the green beans in flour, gently shaking to remove any excess.

Dip the beans in the egg and milk mixture, then repeat with the flour and egg mixture before coating with the breadcrumbs mixture until fully coated.

Fry the green beans for 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown.

Place them on paper towels to drain before serving.

Serve with any combination of dipping sauces.

We combined 2 tablespoons each of mayonnaise and ketchup per serving for the dipping sauce. However, you can use a combination of your preferred dipping sauce such as barbeque, ranch, ketchup, mayonnaise, and Italian.
