3 cups all-purpose flour

2 tsp baking soda

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup vegetable shortening

½ cup butter, or margarine, softened

2 eggs, large

1 tsp maple flavoring

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups white chocolate chips

½ cup pecans, chopped

1 cup pecan , halves (about 60)

Maple Frosting:

4 cups powdered sugar

4 tbsp milk, or more if needed

¼ cup butter , or margarine, softened

1 tsp maple flavoring

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a medium bowl, sift the flour and baking soda.

In a separate bowl, beat the brown sugar, vegetable shortening, butter, eggs, maple flavoring, and vanilla extract until creamy.

Gradually beat in the flour mixture.

Stir in morsels and chopped pecans.

Using a rounded tablespoon, drop the batter onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown.

Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes then move to wire racks to cool completely.

For frosting:

Combine powdered sugar, milk, butter and maple flavoring in a medium bowl.

Stir until smooth.

Spread with maple frosting on the surface of the cookie and top each cookie with a pecan half.
