As I traveled about with Insight Vacation’s Luxury Gold Tour of Italy… I kept seeing these orange cocktails everywhere- literally everywhere! The Aperol Spritz seems to be a very popular choice of the Italians. Aperol is a an orange-colored alcohol that tastes of sweet and bitter oranges + herbs. You should be able to find it among the liqueurs in the liquor department of any market.
Aperol is “technically” an aperitif (an alcoholic drink that you consume before a meal). But one night after dinner with our tour group, we headed to the hotel bar for yet another delightful “tour surprise”… and I finally had the opportunity to try an Aperol Spritz. I was hooked! When I came home from Italy, I scribbled some instructions down on a piece of paper for my husband… and he re-produced this Italian drink for us (Prosecco + Aperol + club soda). It’s a new favorite of mine!
